Love Song 03:09
LOVE SONG ©Trev Teasdel Middlesbrough 1981 Close your eyes and let them rest now Dark days they will go past Close your eyes and let them rest now Oh the shadows they won’t last. When you feel the tears swelling And they’re not the tears of pain And your lips begin to quiver And it’s not with fear or strain. When it’s hearts that speak not tongues In a language queer to pens When its souls that think not minds With a logic that transcends Take my hand and let me hold you Close as flesh can get Take my soul and let me show you That sacred place within When flesh has done what flesh must do And our hearts they are at peace And we lay in sweet contentment As if the troubled world had ceased.

KICK BACK TO WIN (DON'T JUST GIVE IN) by Trev Teasdel Written July 1978. I know that you feel like crying, Feel like dying, can't stop sighing I see that you're frowning, Feel you're drowning, A fool - just clowning around. I know that you've got a problem And it's got you licked And your affairs are so cross woven, They're hard to unpick But don't sink into despair Cos, there ain't no answer there. Once it gets you in it's snare You're gonna be hard to repair. Bridge 1 Don't be defeated Don't let yourself Get mistreated Show some courage - Some character Kick back to win, Don't just give in Say to hardship "You'll have a hard time with me". I know that you've got a problem And it seems too deep, difficult And involved And you've given up thinking That it can ever be solved It's been a problem for too long, It's second nature. Bridge 2 But get up Umm! Get out, Shake your will-power, Shake it all about Turn the tables, Switch the labels Turn your problems inside out.

I was born to be wild, a wild thing running free, a bowler-hatted Steppenwolf on the steep Steppes of Santa-Anyplace. I rode a six string saxophone with a left-field pickup truck, swinging in the trees and looking to get lucky. A power-chord primate with intuitive ignition, I radioed my intentions intensely. I was Lay Lady Lay in a lay-by near Las Lascivious fretting over her laid-back arpeggios. Nothing makes sense in a wild town, you have invent all your own meanings and feed them back down, town to town. I wasn't born to be understood, I peeled the fruit of life on the run. Outside Sacramento we were Monkey Magnifico, our amps ran off with the lost chord of the planet and the audience were torn between ovation and disgust. Well that's rock n roll for ya!!

AND THE TRAIN MOVED SLOWLY Trev Teasdel Middlesbrough March 1981 I caught the train intercity It was all in a rush The platform it was crowded I had to really push. I caught it by seconds I knew that I must. Chorus And the train it moved slowly And the train it moved slowly and the train, it moved so slowly. The train it did move slowly and I started to cuss the man who sat opposite thought I made too much fuss. But the train it moved slowly and I was all in a rush. The lights they were against us We stopped everywhere. I could have read novel or slept in the chair. I could have taken it easy and tried not to care. The train it was pulled in Unscheduled at Leeds. A body on the tracks and a hunt across fields. It was suspected foul play and another long delay. The train it carried on but half a day late! As if I hadn't already got enough on my plate. I'd forgotten my briefcase and I had to go back. London had been abandoned There was another scare. Some where saying it was another leak from the unit of germ warfare. A city could be wiped out but I couldn't have cared.

Streetbattle 06:10
STREETBATTLE Trev Teasdel Coventry January 1980 Divert the traffic, clear the street. The slogan’s written, the plan’s complete. Placards painted; the people out With raging passions to chant and shout. Clear that streets, move that car. Board the windows of shop and bar. Heed the word, heed the call Nothing’s safe around here at all. Police on horseback, truncheons toting Streets are hunched in mute foreboding. Helicopters circle low, co-ordinate via police radio. Escorts ready, formations planned, Handcuffs and batons close to hand. Calling reinforcements, urgent, quick. Gonna be a lot of causalities and a lot in nick. Heed the word, heed the call, You're not safe around here at all. A route-march chosen, a streetplan open An immigrant area - it goes unspoken. Spearhead banners, poison poking. Cornershop window will soon be broken. Hymns to Hitler, dreams of greatness A ghost of the past that will not rest. Heed the word, heed the call No one’s safe around here at all. A shield of police surrounding marchers, A sudden left turn at the railway arches. Counter demo led long another route but they get wise then off they shoot. A sudden shower, sticks and stones hurled Cops ‘neath viziers quickly curled. Burning issues of the age Nominate the street their stage. A confrontation, quick the cameras, Inform headquarters, fetch the ambulance Effect plan b, put in operation ‘If this thing spreads, god help the nation’ Release the gas, fire the blanks ‘Action, action, disperse their ranks’ Heed the word, heed the call, No one’s safe around here at all. The cameras pan, the chanters all join hands The battle in the streets obeyed no-one’s plans. An ambulance left, a police car burned All agreed there were lessons' to be learnt Blood in puddles, mud in wounds, A peak-capped man cried ‘Damn them goons’. Heed the word, heed the call, Nothing’s safe around here at all. Clear the debris in the streets Assess the damage done to property Compile statistics on loss of trade ‘Stop press, fresh outbreak, city arcade’ Camera crews, trigger happy Edit that newsreel, make it snappy. Divert attention from real issues Specially packaged for the news. Heed the word, heed the call Jackboot’s marching, heed the call.

I GUESS / ALL AT ONCE by Trev Teasdel 1976 I guess that moonlight never meant much to me before A kiss was a kiss and nothing more. I guess the silver fountains never danced for me before. A girl was a girl and nothing more. I guess a castle in the sky was just a fantasy before and love was four letters and nothing more. And all at once I'm the lake in which you swim. And all at once I'm the sky in which you fly. And suddenly you tread my woven patterns and darkness is a pantomime of dancing stars. I guess I never dug backstreet scenery before My life was lived and nothing more. I guess I never got together the together thing before I was a passing train that passed and nothing more. I guess I always had to walk before, no I fly, don't walk no more. And all at once I'm a tune that people hum And all at once I'm an unexpected smile on the gloomiest face. And suddenly the moon is no longer a spy travelling incognito. I guess I never found nobody who became somebody to me before. A date was a date and nothing more. I guess my eyes were never opened as wide as this before I looked but never saw through a slit and nothing more. I guess I always thought that were I was was where it's at before. But boy you really shook my soul when you showed me there's so much more. And all at once I'm the sun who threw a party for the poor and all at once I'm the sea who stood up and put a towel around her breasts, throwing rubber dinghies to those drowning in their tears. And suddenly I'm the mountain who ran away to space And suddenly gravity signs his official recognition.

Song for Sam 02:43
Song For SAM c. by Trev Teasdel Norwich September 1974 Hello Sam, eyes wide and beaming, Smile that is gleaming - down. Like a sun upon high, You are 'pie from the sky'. Give a sad little sigh Sad little Sam - Smile, don't cry. Hello Sam - face tender and chubby Hands wet and grubby - yeah. And "What's that mess on the floor?" And "And mind your hand in the door" And "What? Oh you want some more?" Oh Sam, smile don't snore! Bridge With your mother so lovin' and all You stand tall although you're so small Hey Sam - chin up and smile - Each day is a new toy to be explored And Oh Growing up it takes such a while. Oh Sam - Please don't look so bored. Hello Sam - You're Daddy works hard Hold you in high regard. And "Oh don't you pull my hair!" And "Oh, the world is so unfair" but let's give a little sigh And Sam - smile don't swear.

WOMEN ON THE CHANGE ©Trev Teasdel January 1981 There's fear in the street, In the heart and in the home. There's sadness in the eyes and anger in the soul. There's a mugger in the street A bugger in the alley. There's a bully in the home and a weirdo on the phone. It's time that men left the women alone. Chorus - Cos women are on the change, They won't be led or bullied. Women are on the change They won't be hully-gullied. Your ornaments are jumping, off the mantelpiece, Going through the changes Handing back the lease. Women on the Change Women on the Change. We're living in a dog's world, Where the cats are tamed with milk. They are used for warmth and comfort, Chased and hounded just for sport. They are bitten by the prowler, Barked at by the howler. Cornered by the snarler, Snapped at in the parlour. Time that dogs left the cats alone. There's a whisper in the wind, A clenched fist in a handbag. There's a meeting in the evening, And a slogan in the subway. There's a hacksaw at the shackles, There's a banner march today. There's an axe that's being grinded A cluttered path to clear away. Time that men shared the world with women. Time that men shared the world with women.
